Two unique joint services celebrating Holy Week in Vancouver will be held on April 13 and April 14 at Vancouver Heights United Methodist Church (5701 MacArthur Boulevard, Vancouver, WA 98661). Maundy Thursday service, will start on April 13 at 6:00 with a potluck, followed by a meditative service at 7:00. Good Friday services will begin with worship at 7:00 and a prayer vigil will continue through the night until Saturday morning.
Officiating at both services will be Pastor Denise Neuschwander of Vancouver Heights UMC, Pastor Jennifer Brownell of First Congregational Church UCC, Ken Kerr of Metropolitan Christian Church of the Good Shepherd, and Bishop Jack Cunningham of Vancouver’s Celtic Catholic Church.
“This is the most sacred time of year for Christians,” says Brownell, “so to be able to share these holy days with our brothers and sisters is very special and powerful. Because hospitality is so fundamental to our faith, we are especially grateful for the hospitality we have been shown.”
Due to the fire at the First Congregational Church UCC in May, 2015, MCC of the Good Shepherd and the Celtic Catholic Church have relocated to Vancouver Heights UMC. First Congregational Church UCC is conducting services each Sunday at Luepke Senior Center.
First Congregational Church UCC will hold Easter Services at 10:00 AM at the Luepke Senior Center, 1009 E. McLoughlin Blvd, Vancouver, WA 98663. Following service an Easter Egg Hunt will be conducted on the grounds.
