Youth Programs

Children and Youth

Vancouver UCC welcomes all children and youth to experience the love of God through worship and fellowship. We inspire and prepare children of all ages to actively participate in a lifelong spiritual journey.

We are happy to provide religious education (Sunday school) for children in preschool through fifth grade on Sundays from September through June on non-Communion Sundays. Middle and high school youth participate in the service. We believe families and children are best able to discern what is most comfortable for them, so children who wish to remain with their families during the service are welcome to do so. In addition, our nursery is available for any family members who feel like it would be helpful.

We believe that fun is an important part of our faith practice, so we offer the following family-focused events throughout the year: Trunk or Treat, an Advent festival, an Easter egg hunt, and a summer event.

We serve communion to all who find meaning in the act of communion, including children.

As needed, we offer confirmation classes to middle school children. If your child is interested in participating in confirmation, please contact either the Christian Education Coordinator or the pastor.

Lastly, we believe that all children deserve opportunities to spend time in nature. As such, we encourage all children who have completed grades 1-12 to attend a week of summer camp at the Central Pacific conference’s Camp Adams, located in Molalla, Oregon. Go to www.campadams.org for registration information. There are limited scholarships available to help off-set the costs. Please see Christian Education Coordinator, Kristina Martin, for more details.

YOUTH GROUP

It is our practice to offer Youth Group to teens in grades 6-12. While we are worshipping at the Luepke Center, youth group cannot meet on a regular basis. Instead, we are planning various outings and service projects throughout the year. If you have questions, please contact Kristina Martin at (360) 693-1476.
