This Wednesday the Washington State House of Representatives is poised to pass the marriage equality bill. Unfortunately, the struggle for marriage equality will still not be over. In the name of religion, opposition will be launched that calls for a voter referendum. It is time to challenge those who would support discrimination. We can do this by reframing the religious debate over marriage equality the morning after the vote. People of all faiths and persuasions are invited to join us for the kick off of a marriage equality march that will go from Vancouver all the way to Olympia. The march will be kicked off with a prayer breakfast at Vancouver First United Methodist Church (401 East 33rd Street). The breakfast will be from 7 am to 8 am on Thursday, February 9th. Please RSVP by sending an email to MarriageMarch@gmail.com.
This march is sponsored by a diverse range of organizations and faith communities. Organizations include the Community of Welcoming Congregations, the Faith Action Network, Equal Rights Washington, the Religious Coalition for Equality, and Washington United for Marriage.
