It was lovely to have Alisha Jucevic, staff photographer for The Columbian, on-site last week as she took photos to accompany the article published by The Columbian on August 25, 2018.
In the article “From Blueprints to Bibles”, Patty Hastings interviewed pastor Rev. Jennifer Brownell about the process we have undergone as a church since May 25th, 2016. Of the many things we at Vancouver UCC have found since experiencing an arson fire, perhaps the most uplifting has been just what a place of strength we are for one another in our community.
“It was surprising, I think, to everybody how much our congregation really came together and grew,” Brownell said. “The spirit in the congregation was just very strong.”
That spiritual strength connects us in ways great and small. As we look towards the future for ways to be in the re-imagined church as well as be the re-imagined church, both the community of Vancouver UCC and the community of SW Washington will surely benefit from when we are home at last.
