Good Friday is the day on which we confront violence and death in all its ugliness and sorrow. The crucifixion of Jesus provokes us to seek justice and peace in our own time and in our own communities. This year we will be doing that by holding a Good Friday Candlelight Vigil in memory of Trayvon Martin. The doors of the church will be open for the vigil from 12 noon to 7 pm on April 6th. The public is invited to come and light a candle on an altar dedicated to Martin. Participants may then stay for prayer and reflection in our sanctuary with the accompaniment of music. A table will also be present to petition Florida’s 4th District State’s Attorney Angela Corey as she prosecutes a case that has been marred by misconduct and injustice within the local police department.
